                                        LANCASHIRE GROUP NEWS

                                    (December magazine 2019)

There were 46 ‘vans at Warren Farm, where we welcomed 4 ‘vans from North West Midlands and North Wales Group, old members who we hadn’t seen for a long time and new members Helen & Gerry who appeared to enjoy themselves as they have booked for future events.

The rally enjoyed dry weather after a wet week, so there were lots of muddy puddles to avoid. Friday night was noisy with so many people catching up with the news. Then it quietened, a little, for Allan to call the Bingo.  A little later Lisa presented the quiz. She had us roaring with laughter at times, she is a star. Our table won the tie break so 10 of us shared a bottle of wine.  There was music from Dean and Jack and some keen Line Dancers enjoyed 20 mins exercise.

Saturday saw our AGM proceed promptly. The Chairman, Mel, introducing the committee, thanking them and those who had retired from their positions earlier in the year, for their work. Matters continued with one third of the committee standing down but then standing again unopposed and we had one new member join as Rally Officer as well as the new secretary being confirmed in her post. There were a few business proposals discussed and voted on. We were treated to a delicious buffet in the evening plus an artist, Leon, who kept us entertained with funny stories and songs which had us dancing for the rest of the night. Allan and Brian, on form, presenting Take your Pick in the interval.

At coffee morning, on Sunday, people booked for the various forthcoming rallies and paid for Christmas dinner. Mel thanked all who helped and thanked everyone for attending.

Whittingham and Goosnargh was a very wet rally but 25 Lancashire ‘vans braved the weather and members were rewarded with a pie and peas supper, paid from Group funds. Marie and Jack with Lisa and Dean hosted the rally and there were lots of games and quizzes for all to enjoy as well as the Bingo called by Allan. Saturday evening most of the members hid when there was an invasion of skeletons and witches amongst many other ghouls out practicing for Halloween. They all joined in the celebration of Jades 16th birthday enjoying sharing her lovely birthday cake. People tell me that it was Allan and Jack who presented Take Your Pick, but was that Jack? He wasn’t wearing his Presidents’ regalia!

At coffee morning, Mel thanked the hosts and all the people for dressing up and making the rally such fun. He wished everyone a safe journey home.
