Lancashire Group News - Feb magazine 2020

Rain, dry or windy was the weather at Turnover Hall Farm. There were 36 Lancashire ‘vans plus one from East Midlands attending. We had a busy time with bingo on Friday followed by a quiz of Christmas riddles presented by Lisa. Bonus ball numbers and tickets sold for the Super Christmas Raffle. Dean and Jack provided the music and a group of members lead the sing-along. Jack was presented with his stylish new President’s regalia.

10 a.m. on Saturday saw the Crafty Crew busy making Christmas table decorations with Val guiding us and ready with the glue gun.

The evening started with a sherry reception followed by a lovely Christmas meal with choices to please all. Our entertainer, Sue Forrest, who when she appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, said her ambition was to do a One Woman Show on television, and that is exactly what we got! She gave us jokes and songs and everyone enjoyed her humour, and many danced after the interval during which Allan and Brian presented Take Your Pick.

Sunday coffee morning and the raffle was drawn, the lucky winners had their choice of many consumables useful at Christmas time. There were more lucky winners on two Bonus Ball games. Mel gave his thanks to the people on the committee, and all helpers, who had worked hard over the weekend. He also wished all safe journeys and Happy Christmas.

Our New Year rally was a sunny but cold Warren Farm with 27 ‘vans attending including 5 from NWM & NW's & 1 from Anglia.

Saturday night dancing was followed by bingo and a quiz. Sunday Val had the Crafty Crew making flowers for our hair (even Brian!), ready for 1960's New Year theme. The afternoon we played Bean Bag Boules with Joyce defeating Beattie in the all-female final. In the evening we had the Chinese Raffle where the tin of Jaffa Cakes proved to be a popular prize. This was followed by Take Your Pick with Brian and a surprised Tony presenting. Lisa winning the big money! Monday’s entertainer was Damon Noon, who is an old friend of our group. He didn’t disappoint, thrilling members singing with them or to them!

New Years Eve started with another craft session, making jewellery to use with our Flower Power outfits etc. Later some practised their Bean Bag Boules whilst others did the food shopping then preparation for the super buffet. The evening was filled with talent, Lancashire members and visitors all entertaining us with singing, dancing and the playing of musical instruments followed by everyone dancing the night away.

Coffee morning and thanks given from our visitors and Mel who thanked the committee and all helpers for their input. Al.
